About North Shore Turkey Trot
The North Shore Turkey Trot 5K, 8K, 10K & Kids’ Trot is a Thanksgiving Day tradition in Highland Park, Illinois. The race started in 1978 as a way to give families and fitness advocates alike a new way to spend a holiday generally spent eating and relaxing.
The first North Shore Turkey Trot 5K and 10K was a small event with just a few hundred participants. But it quickly grew in popularity, and today it is one of the largest Thanksgiving Day races in the Chicago area. In 2022, the race had almost 4,000 participants.
The course takes runners through some of the most beautiful parts of Highland Park including the Ravine, the Lakefront, and the downtown area. After the race, you can join fellow runners at the festive post-race party with food, drinks, and live music!
Running the North Shore Turkey Trot 5K, 8K, 10K & Kids’ Trot is not only a fun way to get some exercise in on the holiday, but a portion of the proceeds from the race benefit the Highland Park Community Foundation, which supports a variety of programs and services in the community.
If you are looking for a fun and festive way to start your Thanksgiving Day, the North Shore Turkey Trot is the perfect event for you. Register today and join the thousands of other runners who make this race a tradition every year.
